Wanderlust Wednesday Bath City Edition!

‘It isn't what we say or think that defines us, but what we do’ - Jane Austen

A Wanderlust Wednesday brought to you with a first time visit to the beautiful city of Bath.

It’s hard to believe that we are on to the last day of April already, but what a month it has been! If you follow me on Instagram then you may have seen that I started the month in beautiful Bath, a city that had been on my cityscape wish list for awhile now.  From the The Royal Crescent to The Curve, The Roman Baths to The Weir and a museum dedicated to the author of my namesake, Bath is a city that everyone should visit at least once to experience its charming character!  Not only is it surrounded in history, but its beautiful Georgian architecture takes you on a journey back in time to give it that perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life!

Good Morning Bath - Famous for its beautiful architecture and charming little streets, it’s hard not to fall in love with this city and its character traits!

The Roman Baths - Constructed in 70 AD as a socialising and bathing temple containing natural spring water which the Romans believed would help purify, cleanse and heal.

The Night Crescent (The Royal Crescent, Bath). Inspired by the crescent moon, this row of 30 terraced houses was designed and constructed between 1767 - 1774 by architect John Wood and son.

As with most of my cityscape trips I will be working towards a Love From Bath photography print series that I hope to add to my print shop this Summer season as it seems only right to coincide with the big Jane Austen 250th celebrations!

A Photography Trip Down Memory Lane!

‘We’re all stories in the end’

A recent photography print purchase had me thinking back to previous client works and how much it means as a photographer and small business owner to hear the stories behind the print. I love getting to know why a particular print was chosen, the memory a certain location holds or the special occasion in which it represents. It’s through the power of photography that these stories and moments can live on, something that will always make this job of mine so special and so rewarding.

Below are just some Lavender Line Photography prints with their special stories and meanings shared. Don't forget to share your story too if there is a certain photography print that has taken you on a trip down memory lane! 🫶

Sundown Slieve League Style!

'Seek not just the sights but the stories behind them'

A throwback to three weeks ago with a dreamy and spontaneous sunset visit to the stunning Slieve League Cliffs, one that had been on my bucket list since a day trip to the famous Cliffs of Moher back in 2019!

After a quick night before decision with the lovely Rachel from Storybox about cashing in on our self-employment sunny day perks, we set off on a Wednesday Wonder Day adventure to beautiful Donegal. Two dreamy beaches and a stop in Donegal town centre had us thinking about sunset and where best to watch, and after a look on google maps Slieve League was decided!

Golden hour done right at beautiful Slieve League, Donegal!

Slieve League also known as Sliabh Liag, are the highest accessible sea cliffs in Europe rising 598m above the Atlantic Ocean, almost three times the height of the Cliffs of Moher! After a steep drive up to the carpark (thankfully I was not driving) where you can park your car for 10 euros, you follow the winding coastal path with unforgettable views looking out to the Atlantic Ocean, Donegal Bay, Leitrim, Mayo, Sligo and the stunning cliffs themselves. With so much beauty to take in I can see why people say you need more than one visit, it’s one that I would love to see in all seasons as well as by boat…. seems only right for this ocean child!

A sunset to remember with great company, a location more spectacular than I could have imagined and a big tick off that old bucket list of mine! Now to get stuck into that editing for some new and exciting Ireland themed photography prints!

Have you ticked Slieve League Cliffs off your list?

The Dreamscape Three!

Wednesday Waves brought to you by Dreamscape Three!

Inspired by my love of the sea and ICM (Intentional Camera Movement) photography, Dreamscape Three is a special photography print set and series that had me stepping out of my comfort zone and challenging myself to capture sunset waves in a new and exciting way.

Dreamscape Three, a perfect touch of dreamy sunset vitamin sea for your home decor

What I love most about Intentional Camera Movement is the freedom it gives when shooting, how there are no set rules, how experimental you can be playing with movement and shutter speeds, and how unique each and every capture is. I still have some things to learn when it comes to this technique but I love how it adds the perfect dreamy mix to an already dreamy sunset scene.

Dreamscape Three - Fresh off the printer and ready for its new home in America

Dreamscape Three has made its way to new homes here in Northern Ireland, Australia, and just recently America added to the list. A perfect print set for the Spring and Summer seasons!

Summer In Spring!

April, the month that is usually all about those famous April showers, but instead decided to give us a much needed hit of Summer instead! After two weeks of clear blues skies and beautiful sunshine I think it's only right that I document this almost unheard of April occurrence and show just how beautiful this little island of ours is on wonder days!

This for me is the main perk of self-employment, when I can change my work schedule to take advantage of those beautiful coastal scenes during quiet times and work into the evenings instead... as tempting as it may be to stay out and capture every dreamy sunset!

Below are some scenes from Whitebay, Drain's Bay and Fintra Beach, three must-visit locations that give the Mediterranean a run for the money! Have you ticked them off your list yet?

Spring Meets Vitamin Sea!

‘Spring is wonderful anywhere, but always better at the beach’

The first official day of Spring and what better than a little vitamin sea meets cherry blossom to mark the new season! It’s what I love most about this time of year, the brighter days and longer nights making way for the return of beautiful nature walks and the chase of dreamy coastal sunsets!

Love From The Emerald Isle!

Happy St. Patrick’s Day from the Emerald Isle! ☘️

Yesterday marked St. Patrick’s Day, a day of Irish celebrations when all attention is on our famous Emerald Isle and the beauty that this little island has to offer! It can sometimes be that we take our day to day life and surroundings for granted, but with a coastline as beautiful and unforgettable as this, it’s not hard to see why so many people fall in love with it time and time again!

It’s one of the things I love most about my job as a photographer, not only getting to capture such beautiful locations right on my doorstep, but hearing the beautiful stories as to why a particular photography print has stood out to someone. Knowing that a certain location holds such a special memory and how it lives on through the power of photography and photography prints is a feeling that will never grow old for me! A photography love story through the ages!

A New Lavender Line Addition!

A new camera lens called for a mini product shoot with three beautiful female inspired typography prints made specially for those International Women's Day / Mother's Day gifts!

Welcome to the Lavender Line Photography family little 40mm lens, I think we will get along perfectly! I’ve been a big fan of the Nifty Fifty for a long time now, it being my main go-to lens when it comes to my photography work, but I wanted to test myself and my projects this year with a new lens and the Micro 40mm seemed like the perfect fit for all things product photography and travel wise.

Here is to the fun and adventures near and far that this lens brings my small business.

P.S. Does the 40mm have a nickname the way the 50mm does?!
