That Small Business Product Photography Sign!

‘You don’t take a photograph, you make it’ - Ansel Adams

I have been meaning to do a post like this for a while now, but in true small business fashion that old Imposter Syndrome crept in and put it on the back burner! So, here goes…

As many know for the past year and a half I have been working alongside other small business owners to capture their beautiful products and showcase their work in a way that not only ties in with their business and branding, but that helps bring attention to their work in an ever aesthetically pleasing world. It’s an area within my work that I adore as I get to not only challenge myself, but I get to help other creatives bring their visions to life in a way that might not come so naturally to them.

A lifestyle product photography shoot I did for my Mindful Moments Coaster range, bringing a feel of the outside inside!

As a small business owner myself I know firsthand that costs come into play with all decision making which can unfortunately mean cutting back on certain important areas within a business, photography being one of them, and so I have made the conscious decision in keeping to affordable pricing plans to help small business owners reach their full potential with images that help bring new life to their promotional material!

I will be opening up my product photography slots again in May, so if this is something that calls out to you and your business then please don’t hesitate to get in touch, maybe this is your sign to book the shoot!

PS. To the businesses that I have been very fortunate to work with, thank you so much for trusting me in bringing your visions to life!

The Life Of A Celine Dion Fangirl!

I think it’s only right that with the return of Queen Celine and her exciting Paris news I dedicate a blog post to her and what for me has been the highlight of 2026!

As most people know I have been a huge Celine Dion fan since 1996 (hard to believe 30 years already) with the release of the Falling Into You CD. I can still remember so clearly blasting out ‘It’s All Coming Back To Me Now’ and ‘If That’s What It Takes’ (which I thought was the English translation of Pour Que Tu M'aimes Encore) from my mini-hifi system and on repeat, much to the annoyance of my Dad! While most kids my age were all about boybands (East 17 for me), I was drawn to Celine and her power ballads! I found it refreshing to have a singer who wasn’t afraid of letting her personality shine through, how her sense of humour would take over in interviews and how she didn’t follow that typical manufactured pop-star act! An artist who knew how to stay true to herself and still does to this day!

17th April 2026 - A day to remember with the release of a beautiful new song ‘Dansons’

I first had tickets to see Celine in Botanic Belfast back in 1999 for the Let’s Talk About Love Tour which was unfortunately cancelled (and rightly so) due to Rene’s illness. It wasn’t until an almost decade later that I got to have my first concert experience, the 5th March 2008 in Manchester for the Taking Chances World Tour. I can still feel the emotions and excitement of that night, the arena going dark, the opening video, the first words of ‘I Drove All Night’ and Celine making her way to the stage so close to my left! It’s a night that has stayed with me all these years and will continue to do so for many years to come!

What do you say to Taking Chances? (Manchester MEN Arena 05/03/2008)

‘Is that alright Manchester?’ (Manchester MEN Arena 05/03/2008)

I have also been very fortunate to experience Celine live in Las Vegas. The first on the 3rd July 2011 where the craziest rain and flooding hit The Strip and caused a short delay to the show, something that she made sure to make a joke about when taking to the stage ‘I bet you weren’t expecting that, rain in the desert!’ and again on the 5th September 2015, the year of my big 30th birthday celebrations!

Jump forward to the lockdown times of 2020 and with it the rescheduling and cancelling of the Courage World Tour and my London O2 date. As sad as it was to miss out on another Celine Dion concert, to know that it brought with it the biggest positive in allowing her to take the time to get the health answers needed was a reward in itself!

For fans and for most people in general the ‘I Am Celine Dion’ documentary as beautiful as it was, hit extremely hard seeing what Celine had been silently dealing with over the years. It takes an incredibly strong character to allow that kind of ‘in’ and to show themselves at their most vulnerable, but in true Celine fashion it made her all the more relatable! Someone who has never been afraid to show her emotions, to show how hard she has worked to get to where she is or the challenges and struggles faced throughout the years!

Slowly working on that Celine Dion record collection!

Collecting Celine Dion CDs since Circa 1996!

And so here we are, the year of my big 40th celebrations and ready for Queen Celine to take to the stage once again, back where she truly belongs! I count myself incredibly lucky to not only have gotten tickets to what will be the most unforgettable of nights, but that I have an idol who has pushed through all boundaries with her determination in keeping her dream and legacy going! It’s honestly the best big birthday gift I could have been given!

The Life Of An Incredibly Lucky Fangirl, Paris, nous voilà!

So, here is to always believing, to pushing through boundaries and to following dreams! I can’t believe that I actually get to say… I’ll see you in Paris Celine!

A Touch Of Simply Scandi Spring!

"No winter lasts forever, no spring skips its turn" - Hal Borland

The arrival of Spring calls for my favourite way to kick off a new season, with the new edition of Simple Scandi magazine, a magazine dedicated to inspiring our interiors and lifestyle with the perfect touch of all things Scandi!

This one is special because not only does it feature a little Lavender Line Photography’s Sunset Silhouette, the photograph that has gone on to be the face of my business so-to-speak, it also features an article from my Instagram pal @manon.galama who moved to Stockholm a little over 4 years ago from the Netherlands and documents the city beautifully. An issue to definitely check out!

It would have been wrong not to capture those out-of-control Tulips of mine for a little Spring themed Simply Scandi shoot!

To add a touch of Spring to your home decor this new season be sure to check out my Etsy shop or shop in person at my Portview Trade Centre studio or the fabulous Storybox Shop!

One Bucket List Tick At A Time!

‘Take a leap of faith and begin this wondrous new year by believing’ - Sarah Ban Breathnach

I’m not really one for setting those new year resolutions as I feel that it sometimes puts a little too much pressure on January and the new year, but one thing I want to try and keep to this year is making sure that each month marks a new adventure : a new coffee shop, a new hike, a new beach, a new city, a new country, a new experience… something special that marks each month without any real pressures! In a world that is filled with so many distractions it can be so easy to not only get caught up in our normal day-to-day routines, but by the hours we spend aimlessly scrolling online, something that I’m sure most of us would agree we need to cut back on!

Don’t get me wrong, I love an instagram scroll as much as the next person and seeing just how creative and talented some people are with their beautiful art making and picture taking, but I don’t want to look back on time and wonder how I spent it or worse still, have it that my days slowly fade into each other! I want to look back and think of the new memories I made and how each month was marked by a certain adventure!

2025 and the year of the 40th, was such a beautiful year filled with such special memory-making that it has made me all the more determined to try and keep the tradition going, to tick off those bucket list dreams one by one, no matter how big or small they may be! This life is short and I don’t want to look back with any regrets or feel that I wasted any time! ( 2025 recap reel! )

So, here are some January highlights below, kicking 2026 off how I mean to go on and all that! Who knows, it may even be the year of consistent blogging too!

January 2026 - The beautiful January Wolf Moon, the first of the winter snow, my studio celebrating 6 years, the first photography print sale of the new year, the first hit of new year vitamin sea, a walk along my favourite beach Whitepark Bay, flying through Storm Chandra and last but not least two days in beautiful Bristol!

A Ticket To Moments Gone!

‘We take photographs as a return ticket to a moment otherwise gone’ - Katie Thurmes 🎞️

Like many small business owners I find January an incredibly hard month to predict work wise, but I have been pleasantly surprised to find a number of Lavender Line Photography prints making their way to new homes this month and kicking 2026 off in style!

I think it’s what I’m drawn to most when creating a new series of photography work, to capture certain moments that not only call out to me, but that call out to others too. It’s what I find the most rewarding as a photographer, to know that a dreamy sunset captured in Ballycastle called out to someone in Australia, that a moody Dublin day called out to a new home on the Isle of Wight and a Holywood red sky delight now happily displayed on a Holywood home wall. It’s knowing that these little moments of joy that I had while photographing them bring forward new moments of joy for their owners, beautiful scenes that create a sense of calm in an ever-distracting world! Something that I personally think we need more of!

Those photography print moments of calm right this way, I’d love to know your Lavender Line dreamy favourites!

When Lavender Line Photography Meets A Simply Scandi Winter!

Although Christmas feels like a bit of a distant memory with the dark days of January’s winter now locked in to full effect, I thought it only right to mark two very special magazines that may or may not feature Lavender Line Photography and some of my favourite winter scenes!

As I’m sure most of you know by now Simply Scandi magazine is my favourite magazine and what I really look forward to reading at the start of each new season. It’s a magazine that is not only dedicated to promoting a relaxing and well balanced Scandi inspired lifestyle (something we all need), it’s one that also supports beautiful and creative small businesses, something that is incredibly important to me as a small business owner myself!

When Lavender Line Photography meets a Simply Scandi Winter!

Lavender Line Photography in print, a feeling that will never get old!

They say these January nights are best spent resting and recharging, so what better than a hot chocolate or cup of tea and catching up with the winter and Christmas editions of Simply Scandi, after all it’s never too early to let the winter inspiration flow with future ideas!

Winter Haze Cavehill - There is no better time to visit the Cavehill than in the thick of winter to experience it as a winter wonderland looking out onto Belfast, Carrickfergus and the famous Mourne Mountains!

When New York meets Dublin meets Stockholm, three beautiful cities that become even more magical when blanketed in snow!

All Lavender Line Photography prints featured are available for purchase on Etsy or in studio, the perfect addition to your home decor this winter season!

6 Years of Lavender Line Photography HQ!

‘Chase your stars fool, life is short’ - Atticus 💫

Well hello 2026! It's been awhile since my last blog post (at some point I will get better at this blogging game), but seems only right to kick off the first post of 2026 celebrating January 10th and it marking 6 years since signing the paperwork and picking up the keys to my beautiful Portview studio!

I still remember how apprehensive I was in making such a big small business decision, but deep down I knew that in order to push Lavender Line Photography further I had to take a leap of faith in myself and my business and just go for it!

January 10th 2026 - How it’s going!

January 10th 2020 - Where it started!

Where the photography print magic happens!

This was a studio space that seemed a perfect fit for me and one that I had long admired over the years through instagram. Little did I know that attending a Shared Threads Christmas market and a chat with my lovely market neighbour Sharon from Innocent Chaos would soon lead to me being her studio neighbour!

Though it might have seemed like the biggest small business risk at the time with covid hitting just two months later, it’s a risk that I am so happy I took! Not only did it push me out of my comfort zone (something that I can stay in far too easily), it brought me the best group of friends a gal could have, people I admire on a daily basis who chase their small business dreams too!

I’m not sure this gal would have believed 6 years ago that she would be selling her photography prints worldwide, capturing beautiful product images and have the best small business support network, but here we are and what a chapter it has been so far!

Here's to chasing those dreams no matter how big, small or scary they may seem! 🫶

A Portview sunset - It’s hard to beat a beautiful old mill building, the perfect setting for a small business like mine!

H&W - There aren’t many carparks with an iconic view such as Portview’s looking out to the famous Harland & Wolff cranes : Samson and Goliath

An Unwanted Pause!

‘Seek not just sights but the stories behind them’

Like many small business owners right now I am unfortunately having to make the hard decision in pausing shipping on all USA orders due to the new customs and tariff rules that are coming into place on 29th August 2025. These new rules mean that all parcels big and small will now face import charges which will affect myself and my lovely US clients.

With so much uncertainty and nothing clearly set in place right now (nothing like a one month warning) it is unfair as a very small business owner to expect loyal customers to pay these unknown duties on Lavender Line purchases in order to allow their photography prints to enter US Customs, and it wouldn’t be fair for me to increase my prices in order to cover these forced pre-paid charges.

This makes me really sad as I value each and every one of my customers and have had such big support from the US with Lavender Line Photography (almost 40% of my photography print sales), it’s the very reason I bought my sales map to tick off the states that proudly home my work, last count was 20/50!

Hopefully this will only be a temporary measure and shipping can commence again soon once things are much clearer and make sense! Thank you to all across the pond who have supported my small business, I have loved hearing your photography print purchase stories over the years and look forward to the continuation of those wanderlust keepsakes.
