Sundown Slieve League Style!

'Seek not just the sights but the stories behind them'

A throwback to three weeks ago with a dreamy and spontaneous sunset visit to the stunning Slieve League Cliffs, one that had been on my bucket list since a day trip to the famous Cliffs of Moher back in 2019!

After a quick night before decision with the lovely Rachel from Storybox about cashing in on our self-employment sunny day perks, we set off on a Wednesday Wonder Day adventure to beautiful Donegal. Two dreamy beaches and a stop in Donegal town centre had us thinking about sunset and where best to watch, and after a look on google maps Slieve League was decided!

Golden hour done right at beautiful Slieve League, Donegal!

Slieve League also known as Sliabh Liag, are the highest accessible sea cliffs in Europe rising 598m above the Atlantic Ocean, almost three times the height of the Cliffs of Moher! After a steep drive up to the carpark (thankfully I was not driving) where you can park your car for 10 euros, you follow the winding coastal path with unforgettable views looking out to the Atlantic Ocean, Donegal Bay, Leitrim, Mayo, Sligo and the stunning cliffs themselves. With so much beauty to take in I can see why people say you need more than one visit, it’s one that I would love to see in all seasons as well as by boat…. seems only right for this ocean child!

A sunset to remember with great company, a location more spectacular than I could have imagined and a big tick off that old bucket list of mine! Now to get stuck into that editing for some new and exciting Ireland themed photography prints!

Have you ticked Slieve League Cliffs off your list?
